OPNFV – No Time to Wait: Accelerating NFV Time to Market Through Open Source Integration
Open Platform for NFV (OPNFV) is a carrier-grade, integrated, open source platform to accelerate the introduction of new NFV products and services, ensure the industry’s NFV needs are being met, and enable end user choice in specific technology components based on their use cases and deployment architectures.
OPNFV has just announced its first release – Arno!
Named after a picturesque river in Italy, Arno represents the first of many river-themed code releases to build on the promise of OPNFV—a carrier-grade, integrated, open source platform to accelerate the introduction of new NFV products and services.
Arno is aimed at anyone who is exploring NFV deployments, developing Virtual Network Functions (VNF) applications, or interested in NFV performance and use case-based testing. This developer-focused release provides an initial build of the NFV Infrastructure (NFVI) and Virtual Infrastructure Manager (VIM) components of ETSI NFV architecture. Arno enables continuous integration, automated deployment and testing of components from upstream projects such as OpenDaylight, OpenStack, Open vSwitch and KVM. It allows developers and users to automatically install and explore the platform.
