VIAVI Impoves 5G Network Test Scalability and Productivity with TMLite

VIAVI Solutions Inc. introduced TMLite, a simplified version of its flagship TM500 Network Tester, which is used by almost every wireless base station manufacturer worldwide. This new solution allows vendors to enhance engineering performance and rapidly identify software errors by implementing focused functional test tools in the development cycle by delivering features, software environment, and user experience consistent with TM500 on a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) server. It also allows smaller suppliers to have access to the market-leading TM500 series in a more compact package.

To optimize 5G coverage, service providers will need to densify their networks and diversify their radio types and vendors. Smaller-scale manufacturers may not require the significant number of carriers and high-capacity testing usual in conventional base station validation. However, they still require early access to 3GPP features and network characteristics needed by other manufacturers to confirm interoperability.

TMLite is an extension of the industry-leading TM500, providing test capabilities trusted by top manufacturers. It enables the functional, system, and performance testing for the most recent 5G Standalone (SA) capabilities, including FR1, FR2, FDD, TDD, and up to 4x4 MIMO, and offers the RF, baseband, and higher layer processing for a single 5G NR carrier - all on a single COTS server. TiLite tests may be compared to TM500 insights for fast parallel testing and high-quality product development using TM500 family application programming interfaces (APIs) suited for automation settings. Customers may also take advantage of the unrivaled VIAVI support model, which provides access to engineering expertise in any region of the world.
