THE GAP BETWEEN CHINA AND US 5G PROGRESS WILL INCREASE IN COMING YEARS
Although the three major operators in China have not yet started commercial 5G networks, they all are working hard for the corresponding network construction. On June 6 this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has issued 5G commercial licenses to the three major operators. This will help to accelerate the 5G progress in China. For the 5G network commercial, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology revealed that the three major operators will build 50,000 5G base stations this year. The number of new 5G base stations will be greatly increased by the three major operators next year. The initial number will be at least 680,000 stations. This will make the gap between China and the United States 5G progress more because the United States currently only plans to build 50,000 5G base stations. In fact, China Mobile alone said that it will build 50,000 5G base stations this year. Next year, China Mobile will provide 5G commercial services in all cities above the prefecture-level.
