Nokia's 'Self-Organizing Networks Software' to Improve BT Network Reliability

As part of a new vendor deal, Nokia has announced that BT mobile network, EE, will deploy Nokia's Self-Organizing Network (SON) software solution to improve network reliability and service in its 4G and 5G networks.

As per EE, Nokia SON "can overcome network complexity to offer flexible solutions that improve network management, as well as automating operations across diverse eco-systems to reduce and handle network issues more cost-effectively. Nokia SON can better prevent issues from arising through intelligent automation, resulting in improved customer experience as well as operational cost savings."

To provide error-free handovers, Nokia SON is automating critical network operational tasks and specific SON modules, such as the relationship management of neighboring radio cells. This offers a better user experience for end-users by reducing dropped calls and interruptions.

Using a Software Development Kit (SDK), EE will develop custom SON solutions that are agile, intuitive, and cost-effective to manage its unique multi-vendor, multi-technology network environment without the need for contractors.

Over 100 communications service providers worldwide have used Nokia SON to improve network reliability while saving money. The ongoing collaborative partnership between Nokia and EE's parent company, BT, takes a continuous development approach to guarantee that the latest analytical procedures are included in BT's internal systems and processes.
