Ericsson, Comcast develop Wi-Fi on Wheels platform
Ericsson deployed a Wi-Fi on Wheels system for Comcast at the Internet & Television Expo (INTX) 2016 in Boston, MA. Ericsson equipped a customised Ford Transit 350 cargo van with six Wi-Fi access points, enough to serve its 2,500 estimated attendees. The company said that such vehicles will potentially give thousands of people outdoor wireless access in cities around the US. Comcast intends to use the vans to support sporting events, community activities and emergency response initiatives.
