End-to-End Testing within the Wireless Ecosystem

Telecom operators are looking to serve their customers better and better in order to generate more revenue—and specifically, better average revenue per user (ARPU), with the goal of selling them new services and retaining the most profitable subscribers. Likewise, mobile operators are trying to draw subscribers into the same virtuous circle. The difficulty for mobile networks is that they are dependent on external resources: access networks are heterogeneous, the “last mile” is over the air, making it difficult to control its quality, and over-the-top (OTT) services are provided by third-party sources. End-to-end testing is concerned with verifying that the mobile network infrastructure is able to deliver the services at the expected quality level (network QoS). It is about insuring that the radio access meets the expected coverage and radio performance (RP), and ensuring that the transported service meets subscribers’ expectations in terms of quality of experience (E2E QoE).

Enhancing Collaboration With Dell’s OTEL

With the rise of 5G standalone deployments network operators face the challenge of serving a high-throughput, low-latency and cost-efficient user-plane between radio and internet. Adding full application and service-awareness via deep packet inspection is paramount for precise accounting and managing QoE of certain service-categories, policy enforcement, and rerouting.

How to accelerate 5G roll-out with spectrum sharing

WorkCast

The transition to 5G will be unlike any of its predecessors. To deliver the promised high speeds, networks will have to become much denser, requiring investment on an unprecedented scale. New models are required to facilitate roll-out, especially to less densely populated rural areas where, historically, most allocated mobile spectrum has remained unused.

Rethink Network Management

Micro Focus

In recent years IT environments and, therefore, networks have become considerably more complex. We’ll review a recent survey from Shamus McGillicuddy, Vice President of Research Network Management at EMA, showing these concerning trends, which he says requires a rethinking of network management. We’ll also cover recent innovations in our Network Operations Management solution that address these issues.
