Sony Taps Orange for SD-WAN Overhaul

Sony Group, the conglomerate that owns electronics, gaming, entertainment, and other businesses under the Sony brand, has inked a new contract with Orange Business Services to implement its SD-WAN offering on a global basis. The companies declined to disclose a value on the contract, but an Orange Business Services spokesperson said “the contract duration for the Sony deal is multiple years.” The new SD-WAN network will initially be deployed across Sony’s two largest companies in film and electronics. Orange will also become Sony’s principal global provider for a fully automated network and the companies plan to implement its Flexible SD-WAN offering across all of Sony’s business units in the coming years. The early SD-WAN deployment will connect more than 500 locations in more than 50 countries, enabling Sony to share IT talent and increase visibility across continents, according to both companies.
