Cisco betting big on WiFi 6, 5G, multicloud and other networking tech

US-based network and connectivity major Cisco on Tuesday said that it is betting big on five components of technologies which include intent-based networking, multicloud, WiFi 6, 5G and security. "Technologies like WiFi 6 are going to play an important role as VoWiFi (voice-over-WiFi) proliferates," said Anand Bhaskar, MD, service provider sales, Cisco India & SAARC. He added that while WiFi 6 will solve issues related to high-density, 5G will take up a bigger role from an overall coverage point of view. The executive further shared that Cisco currently has over 100 engagements going on globally for 5G. However, in India, fiberization is the need of the hour to tap the 5G opportunity timely, a lot of fiberization needs to be undertaken, Bhaskar said  "Getting 50%-60% fiberization done in India in the next five years is also going to have a huge impact on jobs," he added.
