3GPP Release 18 marks the beginning of the second phase of 5G innovations, known as 5G Advanced. This new phase moves 5G services well beyond early enhanced mobile broadband use cases, with increased uplink capacities, expansion into new kinds of devices, low- and high-speed satellite communications connectivity, and enhanced positioning for industrial applications, among others.
