The Virtual Cloud Network: Built for Innovation

July 19, 2018

Current enterprise networks deserve the name “legacy.” When these networks first went online, applications were monolithic and centralized in a massive data center. In today’s hyperconnected world, however, applications and data are distributed across many data centers, multiple clouds, branch offices, and edge devices. Legacy networks are not designed for this kind of pervasive connectivity.
Legacy networks are not automated. They offer limited security. Perhaps most significantly, legacy networks lack the agility to connect consistently from the data center to the cloud or the edge, where important business data and applications reside. The clock is ticking against these old networks: the percentage of workloads in traditional on-premise data centers is projected to shrink dramatically—from 55 percent in 2018 to 41 percent by 2021.
