The move to 5G will be a multi-year journey of both challenges and opportunities. Europe will likely take a more tempered approach to 5G when compared to other regions in the world. “We need to carry out much more traffic compared to what we have today. We need more than fibre. We need to change the architecture, the topology, even the media that we are using for our transport network today. Both fronthauling and backhauling have huge challenges on both throughput and latency.”
