Adtran today announced that Truespeed is leveraging its fiber broadband technology to provide high-speed connectivity to more customers across the South West of England. The new network includes Adtran’s XGS-PON technology, which enables the service provider to deliver current speed tiers of up to 900Mbit/s to households and up to 10Gbit/s to its enterprise customers. The multigigabit solution empowers Truespeed to connect subscribers significantly faster while streamlining its infrastructure with fewer equipment locations in the network.

“Too often, broadband providers fail to deliver services that match their marketing hype. At Truespeed, we do things differently. We’re harnessing the most advanced software-defined access innovations available to provide fiber connectivity all the way into our customers’ homes and business premises. With Adtran’s open and programmable technology, we can guarantee ultra-fast speeds and 24/7 reliability,” said James Lowther, CEO of Truespeed. “We’ve already passed over 60,000 properties with our full-fiber network, and we aim to increase that to half a million by 2025. Thanks to Adtran’s innovation and the dedicated support of its team, we’re confident we can achieve our goal.”

Truespeed’s rapid expansion across the South West of England is powered by Adtran’s open and scalable technology. Adtran’s multigigabit XGS-PON optical line terminals provide the port density and service scale necessary to keep pace with soaring data demands. Compared to legacy GPON, the solution offers substantial cost savings while delivering unprecedented efficiency. By connecting new locations with fewer above-ground cabinets, Truespeed is able to grow its infrastructure in a more sustainable and highly efficient way, delivering reliable and lightning-fast broadband in cities, towns and underserved rural communities.

“We’re working closely with Truespeed to support their mission of bringing high-speed broadband to even more people, communities and businesses across the South West of England. Their team shares our passion for closing the digital divide and ensuring that everyone has access to reliable, lightning-fast internet services, regardless of where they live,” commented Ronan Kelly, CTO of EMEA and APAC regions at Adtran. “Our open and scalable technology is helping Truespeed grow its network rapidly while maintaining the very highest standards of customer experience. We’re also proud that our solution helps Truespeed minimize their environmental impact by using less equipment and less energy. Together, we’re making a real difference in people’s lives across this region.”

Edgecore Networks Partners with Exaware and FONEX to Deliver an Open Multi-Service OLT Access Router Using Tibit Transceivers

Businesswire | May 30, 2023

Edgecore Networks, a leading provider of traditional and open network solutions for enterprises, data centers, and telecommunication service providers, today announced a new partnership with Exaware and FONEX Data Systems, Inc. to provide Optical Line Terminal (OLT) access routers to communications service providers (CSP) using transceivers from Tibit Communications. By using a pluggable Tibit transceiver to provide networking services in fiber-to-the-curb (FTTx) applications, CSPs reduce infrastructure costs by as much as half that of traditional equipment. “Open networking solutions enable carriers to rapidly build new capacity,” said Nanda Ravindan, VP of Product Management, Edgecore Networks. “As the first hardware vendor to contribute open platforms to the Telecom Infra Project (TIP), Edgecore Networks is enabling carriers to reduce the cost of network deployment while moving toward a more consistent and open infrastructure across the network.” Open networking solutions have been increasingly popular in CSP networks since 2016 when the Broadcom DNX family of chipsets was released. “Exaware’s unique multi-service access solution, including onboard device support for native Tibit MicroPlug SFP+ OLT pluggables and software environment, offers CSPs a simple alternative to using traditional fixed chassis-based OLT and switch router devices at the access and edge locations of the network,” said Reinhard Florin, VP of Global Sales & Marketing, Exaware. “Exaware’s network operating system, ExaNOS, is a carrier grade networking software that runs on any Broadcom DNX-based hardware. The combined Exaware, Edgecore, and Tibit solution collapses carrier grade IP/MPLS routing, switching, and OLT functionality into a single, hardened 1 rack unit (RU) device that is extremely scalable and cost effective.” The longstanding systems integration expertise of FONEX will enable carriers to implement a cost-saving solution for multi-service access routers at all points of the network. “FONEX is thrilled to partner with Exaware and Edgecore, and to keep advancing the adoption of open 10G PON solutions,” said Pasquale Ricciardi, CTO, FONEX. “We strongly believe in the future of open networking, and we recognize that successful partnerships are key to making open access networking more powerful, efficient, and accessible.” The Tibit transceiver integrates the OLT functionality of a single passive optical network (PON) fiber into an SFP+ form factor that can be plugged into a router or switch SFP+ socket. The Tibit pluggable transceiver can be easily integrated into a carrier grade Ethernet switch. Unlike the closed and proprietary approaches of traditional OLT vendors, Tibit’s open OLT technology enables rapid PON deployment in any environment. About FONEX Data Systems, Inc. Enterprises and Service Providers Boost Security and Network Automation with cnMaestro™ 4.0 from Cambium Networks

PR Newswire | May 17, 2023

Cambium Networks, a leading global provider of networking solutions, today announced a major upgrade of its cnMaestro management system that enables enterprises and service providers to integrate new end-to-end security and automation capabilities across their Cambium-powered networks, while avoiding the complexity that typically accompanies third-party integrations. A complete networking stack can be created for distributed organizations, all managed together in a single cnMaestro framework. "Network operators have a multitude of tools and technologies to deliver network services, but they are ultimately judged by the end user experience," said Tam Dell'Oro, founder and CEO of Dell'Oro Group, a research and consulting firm that specializes in business planning and strategic competitive analysis. "It is critical that vendors deliver holistic solutions that can meet performance and security expectations." Small and medium-sized enterprises increasingly demand sophisticated network security and threat protection that has typically only been available to large organizations. cnMaestro 4.0 expands the scope of Cambium Networks' Network Service Edge (NSE) solution to enable enterprises to deliver advanced security and threat protection with a fraction of the IT staff. Specific features in cnMaestro 4.0 include: Site-to-site VPNs for building secure multi-site networks. VPN multi-factor authentication (MFA) using Google Authenticator for enhanced user security. DNS-based content filtering, including CIPA compliant protection for K-12 Education PPPoE for user authentication and IP address management. SD-WAN flow preferences to optimize traffic flow across WAN interfaces for failover and balancing. "Layer3/Layer7 flow preference is key for our customers," said Tavin Jordaan of Information Systems Engineering (Pty) Ltd, a value added distributor. "It provides a mechanism where we can decide what kind of traffic should be going through each WAN link. This helps in binding business-critical applications on reliable and higher throughput WAN links." For organizations using Microsoft Azure Active Directory (AD) as an identity solution – for example for Microsoft 365 applications – cnMaestro X 4.0 adds support for single sign on (SSO) authentication with Azure AD for users accessing Cambium Networks Wi-Fi solutions. IT administrators can now integrate directory services with network access to simplify the end user experience.
