RUCKUS Networks Launches New ICX 8200 Switch Series to Enhance Wireless Service

RUCKUS Networks

CommScope, a provider of network connectivity solutions, recently announced that RUCKUS Networks had launched a new series of scalable, entry-level edge switches with 25 GPBS uplink ports. The series features the first entry-level enterprise switch that provides fiber-to-the-room connectivity.

Key benefits and features of the ICX 8200 series include:
  • Peak Performance: The switches have 2.5/5/10GbE edge ports designed for the latest multigigabit Wi-Fi APs supporting Wi-Fi 5, 6/6E, 7 and beyond, as well as eight times faster 25 GBPS SFP28 dual-mode uplink/stacking ports to minimize uplink bottleneck, enabling high-resolution video streaming and low-latency access to apps running in the cloud.
  • Range of Connectivity Options: The product features a stackable switch series with gigabit, multigigabit edge ports, and fiber-to-the-room connectivity. It comes in thirteen stackable models, including three with multigigabit edge ports, three with fiber edge ports, and two fanless compact switches for in-room deployment.
  • High Power Delivery: Operate next-generation IoT devices and wireless access points with a nearly 1480W PoE budget per unit and up to 90W per port PoE power.
  • Improved Security: VXLAN support for data confidentiality and advanced network segmentation enhances security and privacy.
  • Versatile Deployment: RUCKUS signature advanced stacking allows for long-distance stacking of 12 units on standard SFP+/SFP28 fiber ports, with a range of 10km. This simplifies deployment at the aggregation and access layer and removes the need for dedicated hardware for stacking.
  • 3 Years of Technical Assistance Center Support: Alongside the limited lifetime warranty for each ICX 8200.
  • The ICX 8200 series is currently available in models with gigabit copper edge ports. In the first half of 2023, models with multigigabit edge ports and fiber edge ports will also be offered.

Bart Giordano, Senior Vice President at RUCKUS Networks, CommScope, shared, “The ICX® 8200 series is a wired platform optimized for wireless service delivery, purposefully designed to handle the next generation of wireless-first and IoT campus networks.” He adds, “Our newest product line will not only support today’s most advanced Wi-Fi® technology, but also future generations of Wi-Fi, and includes three models that will deliver a fiber-to-the-room solution.
