Axon Wireless, a global player in banking and mobile SIM customer onboarding, announced today that it has signed an agreement with LoginID, to integrate its FIDO-certified passwordless authentication into the Axon Wireless customer provisioning platform. Axon Wireless currently supports Mobile Operators and banks across 10 countries, onboarding on average 3 million customers per month, with over 250 million  identities registered with its Axon Face2Face registration software. Axon is also a supplier of biometric registration hardware devices to complement the Face2Face platform and provides an end-to-end solution to its customers, having provided over 50,000 devices and enabling over 20,000 field agents to perform their customer onboarding duties.  The integration of FIDO for Mobile Operator agents helps eliminate vulnerabilities with traditional login and passwords, preventing account takeovers and other attack vectors.

The use of FIDO2 biometric authentication to secure communications for mobile and banking customers is becoming integral.  According to the mobile industry association GSMA, the growth of mobile subscribers in Africa between 2020 and 2025 is poised to grow from 495M to 615M.  While the growth of mobile internet users during this same period is forecast to grow from 303M to 474M.  Multiple African and Asian countries are currently considering the use of biometrics to be linked to mobile accounts to prevent fraudsters from attacks such as account takeovers, phishing and SIM swaps.

"This will be a first for MEA", said Romeo Pestana, COO of Axon Wireless. "Axon Wireless will utilize FIDO biometric security as a part of their digital onboarding services.  LoginIDs SDKs make it simple to integrate and provide a highly scalable platform to support our current customer base, and growth into the future."

Axon Wireless has been a leader in adopting technology that can provide an edge for their business.  By introducing FIDO as part of their process for onboarding customers they are demonstrating they are utilizing the most secure and compliant technology for securing customer interactions, and staying ahead of regulator compliance requirements that are becoming the norm"

Thierry Siminger, Head, Telecom Business Unit, GM MEA at LoginID.

Juniper Networks Announces Cloud Metro Innovation

Juniper Networks | July 04, 2022

Juniper Networks, a pioneer in secure, AI-driven networks, today revealed the breakthrough that will fuel its Cloud Urban vision and strategy—a new category of products for service providers designed for metro transformation and long-term commercial success. Traditional "retro" metro networks are device-centric and are collapsing under the enormous size, agility, and experience demands imposed by global digital transformation and the introduction of 5G services. The announcement today focuses on facilitating long-term company development by introducing a range of high-performance networking technologies driven by AI-enabled, cloud-delivered automation and particularly built to create next-generation Cloud Metro infrastructure. These systems would provide substantially decreased natural resource consumption capabilities to aid in the sustainability of the planet; improved tools and streamlined working methods to aid in the sustainability of overburdened operations teams; and embedded service assurance and security capabilities to maximize service experience, all while empowering service providers to sustain profitable business growth. Juniper's new Cloud Metro systems are distinguished by their industry-leading energy-efficient, effective energy designs, which enable unneeded features and Packet Forwarding Engines (PFEs) to be automatically turned off when not in use. By allowing up to 48 times bandwidth increase within the same chassis, the detachable modular power shelf architecture lowers e-waste and extends system lives. It is the first and only metro networking device power model unit to be certified as Titanium grade by CLEAResult in its 80 plus program. Juniper's Cloud Metro portfolio's future-proofed scalability, capacity, performance, and smart features replace typical 3-5 year 'rip-and-replace' network lifecycles with 7-12 year lifecycles. Pay-as-you-go approaches and a variety of interface choices enable service providers to economically flex their investment in response to demand. Juniper's advanced use of artificial intelligence and cloud-delivered automation enables service providers to ease day-to-day workflows, deploy services faster (with device onboarding taking minutes rather than hours), minimize trouble tickets, and accelerate time-to-service (and thus revenue) restoration. This increases productivity dramatically, allowing network engineers and operators to do more, which is crucial for staff happiness and retention. By using the newest generation of silicon, industry-leading system architecture, and AI-enabled Device Onboarding-as-a-Service, the new solutions reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by up to 71%. Zero Trust security is integrated rather than added on, and active service assurance is created in to provide proactive service testing, monitoring, and correction.

IBM, AT&T extend partnership to Open Hybrid Cloud computing, 5G

IBM | October 30, 2020

IBM and AT&T will work together to help enterprises manage their applications hosted in hybrid cloud environments with IBM Cloud Satellite leveraging Red Hat OpenShift, over AT&T networks. By making it easier for businesses to connect open hybrid cloud computing using AT&T Multi-access Edge Computing, a low-latency, private cellular network edge environment, IBM and AT&T will be able to help businesses across all industries more rapidly develop and deploy innovative new services wherever they need to run using regional or on-premises edge computing with additional privacy and security. Built on Red Hat OpenShift, IBM Cloud Satellite gives clients the flexibility to bring their applications to any environment where their data resides using the enhanced security of IBM's open hybrid cloud architecture. Enterprises will be able to use a single dashboard designed to manage services across multiple clouds and billions of edge devices with high levels of reliability and security.1 IBM Cloud Satellite, currently in beta, can unlock new potential in the cloud for business customers with the power of AT&T 5G, whether it's a mobile field workforce using cloud-hosted applications via AT&T 5G edge network connectivity, or a manufacturing facility needing increased privacy, low latency and control with AT&T Private Cellular Networks or Multi-access Edge Computing. The benefits? Speedy implementation, better customer experiences, centralized management and enhanced security through IBM's sophisticated encryption capabilities. IBM will also bring its AI capabilities via IBM Watson to deliver deeper insights for clients in near real time from data collected at the edge. "The advancements in 5G and edge are impacting every industry, bringing the promise of enhanced experiences for consumers and new revenue opportunities for businesses," said Howard Boville, senior vice president, IBM Hybrid Cloud. "Together with AT&T, we will be helping clients securely leverage 5G and edge offerings in any environment with IBM's open and secure hybrid cloud platform. This marks a significant step forward increasing the possibilities of 5G and edge in the enterprise." Businesses are using a hybrid cloud strategy, and high levels of control are needed for today's remote environment. Especially as 5G and edge computing continue to grow. And by putting enhanced security at the forefront of the solution, AT&T and IBM have made it so that even clients in the most highly regulated industries can capture the 5G opportunity. IBM's sophisticated encryption capabilities mean that only the client has access to their data – IBM and AT&T cannot access it. The rise of 5G, a market opportunity projected to reach $667 Billion by 2026, is signaling a new frontier in cloud computing – where data collected from billions of mobile devices and factory floor sensors – can be processed where the data resides, delivering low latency and efficiency. "Make no mistake: AT&T is fast," said Mo Katibeh, Chief Product and Platform Officer for AT&T Business. "And we don't just have the fastest nationwide 5G network2. With our edge computing capabilities, we can also offer incredibly responsive networks – needed for mission-critical business applications. Our work with IBM will bring differentiated value that customers will appreciate." With the increased use of digital services in 2020 – from those supporting remote work to e-commerce, online learning, communications and entertainment – increasing data traffic is creating high demand. 5G paired with open, secure hybrid cloud computing can boost data transfer speeds, lower latency, enhance connectivity and unveil new opportunities around IoT and other intelligent devices.
