5G Consortium Expands Adding New Members to Private Mobile Networks Ecosystem

Athonet, a global leader in private network technology, today announced new members to the 5G Consortium, a vendor ecosystem of companies and organizations to promote the deployment of private mobile networks. Several 5G Consortium members will be at Mobile World Congress in Las Vegas, September 28-30, 2022, including Athonet in booth W2.1448.

"When we launched the 5G Consortium earlier this year, the response was incredible with end users telling us this was needed to bring it all together and partners asking to join and help amplify the benefits of private networks," said Simon O'Donnell, president of Athonet USA. The goal of the 5G Consortium is to mutually promote an ecosystem of products and services that support LTE, 5G and CBRS private network deployments; collaborate in marketing the consortium; and conduct testing between products to ensure solutions are interoperable with each other and within the private LTE and 5G cellular environment.

New members expand the expertise of the 5G Consortium globally and in verticals such as mining, manufacturing and retail.

Keysight, NOKIA Bell Labs Collaborate to Accelerate 5G-Advanced and 6G Communications

Keysight Technologies, Inc. a leading technology company that delivers advanced design and validation solutions to help accelerate innovation to connect and secure the world, announced that NOKIA Bell Labs has selected Keysight’s sub-Terahertz (THz) test bed to verify the performance of 5G advanced and 6G transceiver (TRX) modules. Modules to be tested use the radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) technology, including power amplifiers, transceivers, and antennas on a glass substrate, needed to support the extreme data throughput and reliable backhaul transmission requirements of 5G advanced and 6G. NOKIA selected Keysight technology to accelerate research and development critical to supporting 5G-Advanced and 6G use cases that leverage millimeter wave (mmWave) and sub-terahertz frequency spectrum to wirelessly transmit large amounts of data across short distances. Keysight’s 6G test bed was chosen to verify, under both linear and nonlinear conditions, the performance of TRX modules, power amplifiers, and antennas. Nokia designed these network infrastructure components by leveraging complex modulation technology and spectrum in D-Band (110 GHz to 170 GHz) and E-Band (60 GHz to 90 GHz). NOKIA Bell Labs and Keysight possess expertise in advanced semiconductor methods and technologies under research that will support 6G. These include extending the power and noise performance of amplifiers, advanced data-conversion techniques, and improvements in energy efficiency. The companies are jointly developing capabilities that deliver seamless, secure, and safe end-user experiences built on networks that use a mix of connectivity solutions. Cloud and 5G Mobile Network Operators Continue Progress on Security Capabilities

As 5G networks and cloud computing become increasingly intertwined, 5G security continues to progress with new technical features to face the expanded attack surfaces from both internal and external threats. Today, 5G Americas, the voice of 5G and 4G LTE for the Americas, announced the release of its latest white paper entitled, “Evolving 5G Security for the Cloud”, which covers security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigations for deployments of 5G cloud infrastructures as new services and use cases are developed. “Cloud-native 5G networks are important for our expanding ecosystem to efficiently provide new use cases.
