Aruba announced networking software and hardware today that include a new wireless access point that can support Skype for Business and Wi-Fi calling at speeds above 1 gigabit per second. The new Aruba 330 series Wave 2 access point runs on 802.11ac and can support speeds up to 1.7 Gbps -- the kind of speed needed for video collaboration and other latency-sensitive services.The 330 will sell for $1,695 when available in the second quarter. The village is deprived of any mobile connection, but since August 2015 sale of smartphones has increased in the area after non-profit Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) set up a WiFi network. Nichlagarh near Mount Abu in Rajasthan made headlines when its female sarpanch met US President Barack Obama in June 2015. But the village's 7,500 residents still have to travel at least 25 kilometres to make a phone call, get a print out or fax documents....

I will state this right out of the gate: The process of setting a static wireless connection on Ubuntu Touch should be much easier. Yes, you can add a static IP address through the Ubuntu Touch GUI, but it only allows you to enter the address (no DNS, no gateway). Thankfully, this is Linux, so even though there isn't a handy entry in the GUI configuration for setting up a complete static wireless network connection, it can still be done......
