The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) declared on Friday it had offered the first round of its new region wide mechanical assembly licenses to communications suppliers searching for 5G millimeter wave (mmWave) range.
Licenses were handed out in the 26GHz and 28GHz bands to SpaceX Starlink, Telstra, Optus, Vocus, Nokia, NBN, Opticomm, MarchNet, Dreamtilt, Field Solutions Group, WorldVu (One Web), Inmarsat, Viasat, O3B/SES, and New Skies Satellites/SES.

Ericsson has been selected by Taiwanese operator Asia-Pacific Telecom (APT) to modernize its network and support with 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) Multi-Operator Core Network readiness, the Swedish vendor said in a release.
