New nubia Red Magic 5G teaser shows off interesting "Slow Door Video" capture mode

Article | March 6, 2020

nubia and its CEO Ni Fei, in particular, have really been going the extra mile to hype-up the upcoming Red Magic 5G phone. Earlier teasersfocused on 5G connectivity, 144Hz display refresh rate, raw performance and active cooling, but now attention shifts a bit as we draw ever closer to the phone's March 12 announcement date. Clearly, Ni Fei wants fans to know that beyond a hardcore gaming experience, the Red Magic 5G will also deliver a capable camera. How to keep 5G data secure with software probes

Article | March 17, 2020

Enhanced security and privacy are cornerstones of 5G Core, but service providers still need to be able to capture quality, actionable data to secure the end-customer experience. Specifically, I’m referring to the data needed to perform troubleshooting, monitoring, customer care and analytics for marketing campaigns. But can this be done in 5G Core using traditional probing methods, without breaching security? The 3GPP standardization for 5G considers enhanced security to be an essential network component. Imagine, for a moment, that we live in a world where it’s common for open heart surgery to be conducted remotely, and I’m sure you’ll agree. The need for a secure, reliable network has resulted in the introduction of a new Service Based Architecture (SBA) that utilizes encrypted interfaces between network functions (NFs). Traffic between network functions is deployed in a cloud native 5G Core Kubernetes node and will not be visible outside the cluster, meaning traditional probing solutions are unsustainable.

Don’t fall for this coronavirus ‘5G Syndrome’ hoax on Facebook

Article | March 16, 2020

The claim: “Coronavirus Hoax: Fake Virus Pandemic Fabricated to Cover-Up Global Outbreak of 5G Syndrome." — headline on an article being widely shared on Facebook. PolitiFact ruling: False. World experts say the virus originated in an animal — perhaps in a bat that transmitted the virus to another animal, and then to humans. Discussion: Tentacles of lightning illuminate a stormy sky. Three people wear medical face masks, worry visible in their eyes. Next to those two images is one more that reads simply "5G" — a reference to the fifth-generation of wireless networking technology. The post was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed.
