Cloud, mobility, and big data are driving business change and IT transformation. Enterprise businesses and service providers across all industries are constantly looking for a competitive advantage, and reliance on applications and the data center have never been greater. In the data center, where virtualization reigns supreme, IT leaders are now looking at the network as the next frontier in how to achieve greater agility and efficiencies while also driving down costs. But the network is physically complex, difficult to manage, and not suited for the dynamic application environments prevalent in today’s data centers. In addition, most businesses are dealing with data centers that are distributed across multiple sites and clouds, adding even more complexity. And finally, because the data center is so dynamic, the network is constantly being asked to do more and support new applications while ensuring integration with legacy applications,

Cisco Dreams of a 5G WAN

Article | March 10, 2020

Cisco envisions a future in which enterprise’s WANs are connected not by MPLS or broadband, but instead by high-speed, low-latency cellular networks, or what it calls the wireless WAN. Once relegated to failover, Cisco says today’s cellular networks, in particular 5G, offer high enough throughput and low enough latency to be viable alternatives to traditional wired networks. “About 10-years back everyone would say that my primary circuit from the enterprise branch was MPLS and then the higher bandwidth speed of having an internet circuit became a viable alternative,” said Shankar Ramachandran, director of product management, routing platform at Cisco, in an interview with SDxCentral.

Five ways to win at antenna integration

Article | May 7, 2021

Antennas are fundamental to the performance of connected devices, but are often implemented as an afterthought, resulting not only in sub-optimal performance, but also in less-than-ideal form factor. It can also have a negative impact on cost for the device as a whole. It is therefore essential that organisations prioritise antenna design as part of a holistic device design philosophy – bear in mind that it is practically impossible to fix bad antenna design. Early decisions need to be made regarding the relative merits of embedded or external devices and then attention can turn to optimising antenna integration.

NOT SO FAST: HOW CORONAVIRUS IS DELAYING THE 5G ROLLOUT

Article | April 20, 2020

Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been relentlessly spreading across the world. Countless events, both international and domestic, big and small, have been either postponed or canceled due to the ongoing pandemic. This was supposed to be the year the 5G network rollout would make the technology mainstream and widely available. But the much-anticipated rollout of the lightning-quick 5G network may now be in the slow lane. Because of the increasing spread of the disease in many European countries, various 5G network spectrum regulators have postponed the long-awaited auction of the 5G spectrum. These auctions were crucial for network providers to launch or expand the already existing 5G network systems.

The next phase of Tableau Partner Network helps customers accelerate data transformation

Article | June 24, 2021

The next phase of our newly redesigned Tableau Partner Network is officially here. Originally announced during the Global Partner Summit at Tableau Conference 2019, and launched in September 2020, we built the Tableau Partner Network (TPN) to enable our global ecosystem to meet evolving customer needs and deliver exceptional customer experiences. The Tableau Partner Network is an analytics-focused ecosystem that complements Salesforce’s partner ecosystem. With this latest phase, we’ve unlocked new partner branding to showcase our partners’ commitment and expertise. Customers now have a more transparent view of the commitment and quality level of Tableau’s partners by business model track (Reseller, Services, and Technology) and performance level (Premier, Select, and Member), as well as by country groupings versus a single global qualification. These changes make it easier for customers to find and confidently work with the right Tableau partner, knowing they meet Tableau’s standards and are local if desired.
