Once upon a time, very few devices connected to Wi-Fi- the odd laptop, perhaps a PDA (remember those), or specialized equipment such as barcode scanners- a very different picture to what we have today. The explosion of mobility and connected intelligence has driven almost every device imaginable to be equipped with a wireless chipset, from refrigerators to Barbie dolls, and more of these devices are finding their way to corporate networks. Well, perhaps not a Barbie doll, but certainly notebooks, tablets, smartphones, projectors, printers, and soon light bulbs, heating and air conditioning etc. with the growing trend of the ‘The Internet Of Things’ (IoT).

Versa Networks has been listed as the leading Secure SD-WAN vendor, according to an industry report published this month by Dell'Oro Group. DellOro Groups inaugural SD-WAN market share, published in the 4Q19 Router & Carrier Ethernet Switch Report, ranked Versa as the number three overall SD-WAN vendor, based on 2019 worldwide revenue, making Versa the top pure-play and Secure SD-WAN vendor. The report also revealed that the worldwide SD-WAN market grew 64% and surpassed the $1 billion level in 2019, and the five leading vendors, including Versa, accounted for a combined revenue share of almost 60% in 2019. “SD-WAN had a breakout year in 2019,” says Dell’Oro Group vice president Shin Umeda. “The market moved beyond the early adopter phase, and we observed that vendors with larger installed bases gained the critical mass needed for sustained revenue growth. And we predict the demand for SD-WAN technologies will increase significantly over the next 5 years.”

Nokia expands WING with 5G IoT capabilities

Article | March 18, 2020

In a recent release, Nokia announced that it is evolving its Worldwide IoT Network Grid (WING) managed service to add 5G and edge capabilities. This upgrade reportedly facilitates operators in offering 5G IoT services without having to invest in global infrastructure. WING is designed to help operators capture early IoT market share without having to make investments in infrastructure because of a pay-as-you-go business model designed to allow the scaling of 5G IoT services faster and more cost-effectively. With Nokia WING, operators will be able to leverage new business models and tap into industries such as connected cars, critical public services, and real-time industrial monitoring and control, as well as remote healthcare, the company said. Nokia has invested in a 5G WING lab in Dallas, Texas, to which operators around the globe can connect and begin testing 5G IoT use cases.

Reflecting on a year of partnership to advance data for racial justice

Article | July 6, 2021

One year ago, Tableau Foundation launched our Racial Justice Data Initiative out of a core belief that data can and should play a transformative role in the fight for racial equity and justice in the United States. We have forged new partnerships and deepened existing relationships with organizations committed to using data to raise awareness of inequities, point to solutions, and advocate for progress. Just today, we announced two new partnerships that will deepen our commitment to advancing racial equity in the Southern US with—Southern Economic Advancement Project (SEAP) and Fair Count. We believe that data can be a powerful resource in both identifying the experiences and challenges of people whose voices we may not normally hear and help create the necessary programs, policies, and resources needed to ensure these same people are not left behind

GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR SD-WAN: FEATURES YOU NEED TO START USING TODAY

Article | March 20, 2020

Software-defined wide-area network, also known as SD-WAN, is an implementation of software-defined networking (SDN) technology applied on WAN. This can include WAN connections such as broadband Internet, MPLS, and 4G. One of the most common reasons large businesses use SD-WAN is that it helps them connect their branch offices to centralized datacenters located over large geographical distances. While being very helpful to enterprises in a variety of ways, SD-WAN initially lacked several features such as application-aware routing, integrated firewalls, analytics tools, and more.
